Hardin County EMS, a service of Hardin Medical Center, is proud to serve our community by providing both 911 Emergency Medical Services and routine medical transportation to residents and visitors to Hardin County. The service maintains a fleet of 5 Type 1 Advanced Life Support ambulances and is rated as a “Class A” service by the Tennessee Department of Health, Division of Emergency Medical Services.
Hardin EMS staffs 3 ALS units a day with licensed Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT’s) and Paramedics. These crew members are trained in the latest Emergency Medical procedures and equipment, and regularly participate in continuing medical education and drills to keep their skills sharp. Some of the areas these professionals are trained in include:
- Cardiac Monitoring and 12 Lead EKG’s
- Intravenous Therapy & Intravenous Infusions
- Drug Administration & Drug Therapy
- Endotracheal Intubation
- CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals, Emergency Vehicle Operations, and others
Hardin EMS maintains an Emergency Dispatch Center. All Emergency Medical Dispatchers (EMD’s) have been specifically trained to ask the appropriate questions and provide Pre Arrival Instructions to callers while dispatching the appropriate resources to the caller. Our EMD’s routinely also dispatch Fire Department First Responders to Emergency Calls. First Responder work closely with EMS to provide care before the ambulance arrives.
The service maintains a staff of around 35 Full & Part time EMT’s, EMD’s, and Paramedics, all under the direction of Stacey Wilson, BS; EMT-P. Stacey has been Director of the service since June 6, 1997. Mr. Wilson is a graduate of Jackson State Community College and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Management from the University of Tennessee at Martin.
