James’ primary focus remains in providing wonderful care for his patients. He is always interested in learning new things and becoming better at what he does. It is this care and concern that makes James anobvious choice for Employee of the Month.

Just recently these comments were made by her director: “Janie consistently goes over and above her duties in all aspects of her job. She has been successful in making sure the sleep lab continues to meet all necessary requirements and she keeps very informed in her job.”

This type of work ethic is what makes Janie such a valuable employee. Whether it is helping out on TLC when the nurses need an extra hand, or just making sure her patient is accommodated with the time he or she needs to do their testing, it is certain that Janie has the best interest of HMC in mind.

Sarah was nominated for this honor for many reasons. Her peers feel she is consistent in providing superb patient care and also comment that her readiness to offer help when needed is a true testament to her commitment to HMC. Here’s one story that tells of this dedication:

Recently, without hesitation, Sarah agreed to come in on her scheduled day off to assist with hosting a visiting facility to demonstrate computerized documentation, eMar, and bar-coding. Sarah did an amazing job on her presentation and made a very positive impression on the guests. As a result of her skill, knowledge, and handling of the applications, the visiting facility chose to move forward with the proposal.

Her supervisor commented, “Sarah is a wonderful nurse and great employee. Many patients compliment her on her kindness and the caring attitude she demonstrates. This attitude remains consistent through the most hectic times. She has even visited the hospital on her days off to see a patient whom she has cared for.”

HMC Employee of the Month - January 2010

The Executive Council is proud to announce the selection of Cassie Tubbs as Employee of the Month for January. Cassie is a Medical Laboratory Technician and has been with HMC since November 1991.

Cassie was nominated because of her intuitiveness in knowing when a co-worker or patient is in need and the inventive and resourceful qualities she demonstrates in her job each day.

In our most hectic days, it really makes a difference when someone shows concern and goes out of their way to help. That is just what Cassie did during our Annual Christmas tea. A co-worker was so inundated with a heavy patient load, there was no way she would be able to join the Christmas celebration. As she began to feel downhearted listening to others laughing and enjoying the food and good fellowship down the hall, Cassie showed up with a plate of food and goodies from the event. This kind act meant a great deal and because of Cassie’s thoughtfulness, her co-worker was able to enjoy the celebration after all. This commitment to co-workers is what sets Cassie aside in her compassion and caring.

Her supervisor commented, “Cassie is so creative. She is always thinking of new ideas to help with processes and to save money. I depend on her to help with major decisions in the department.” Recently Cassie came to her supervisor with an idea to ensure consistent payment for venipunctures. This is something that was not always obtainable. Because of her idea, a process was implemented ensuring consistent payments are received for this service.

Cassie, you set a high standard through your work ethic. Your resourcefulness, instinct to help when someone is in need, and the care and consideration you show demonstrates your devotion to make HMC a premier healthcare facility. Thank you for making a “ Port of Excellence” attitude the guiding principle in all you do.
