Additionally, Dr. Freels will be on call for orthopedic emergencies exclusively through the HMC Emergency Department and the HMC Urgent Care Walk-In Clinic.

For patients needing total knee replacement surgery, Dr. Freels also offers custom knee replacements for appropriate patients using the Conformis Replacement System. Dr. Freels is a proponent of continuing education for the latest techniques and technology that allow him to stay at the top of his field to offer better care for his patients. Dr. Freels also provides general orthopedic care, including operative and non-operative fracture care, arthroscopic procedures to include shoulders and knees, carpal tunnel surgery and simple hand surgery, and treatment of workers’ comp injuries.

Dr. Freels and his wife, Vicki, will celebrate their 37th wedding anniversary this year and look forward to developing close friendships in the Savannah area. Dr. Freels was born and raised in East Tennessee. They have three adult children and enjoy traveling and spending time with their family. In his spare time, Dr. Freels enjoys fishing, hunting, tennis, and hopes to learn the game of pickleball. Dr. Freels has also previously been on mission trips serving the local population and teaching orthopedic residents in Leon, Nicaragua, as well as a mission trip with One World Surgery serving patients in Jalaca, Honduras at the Holy Family Surgery Center.

Edmondson added, “Dr. Freels has an impressive career as an outstanding orthopedic surgeon, and we are fortunate to have him at Hardin Medical Center.
