Ray Shirley is the Vice President of Corporate Technology and Engineering at Packaging Corporation of America in Counce, TN. Ray completed his undergraduate studies at Mississippi State University, earning a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Chemical Engineering. He also holds an MBA in Business Management from the Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management.

Chad Jones
Board Member

Chad Jones, born and raised in Hardin County, works with Jones Motor Company, located in Savannah, TN, Humboldt, TN, and Lexington, TN. The company serves the greater West Tennessee, North Mississippi, and North Alabama. Mr. Jones is a multi-generational automobile dealership owner who focuses on high-quality customer service, comprehensive brand selection, and after-the-sale relationships. He enjoys spending time with his family and attending church.

Dr. Angie Roberts Etheridge is a pharmacist and a co-owner of Main Street Pharmacy in Savannah, TN.

Larry Hinton
Board Secretary
​
Larry Hinton has lived in Hardin County his entire life. He holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Tennessee Martin and is a paramedic with 15 years of experience, currently employed by Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Mr. Hinton was an elected member of the Hardin County Commission for 12 years. During that time, he was an appointed advisor to the Hardin Medical Center Board. Mr. Hinton has also served on the governing boards of several county organizations.

Carma Dennis McGee

Carma Dennis McGee graduated from Union University with a B.A. and Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, University of Mem, with a J.D. She is a member of the Anne Harris Schneider Chapter—Lawyers Association for Women, the Tennessee Bar Association, and the Savannah Rotary Club.
Carma joined the Hardin Medical Center Board of Commissioners in 2024 and is currently a judge at the Tennessee Court of Appeals.​​​​​

Jenny Shutt is a dentist at Shutt Family Dentistry in Savannah. From Senatobia, MS, Jenny is a University of Mississippi Medical Center graduate.

Paul Stodard
Board Member
​
Paul Stodard of Savannah has lived in Hardin County for 18 years after relocating from North Mississippi. He is the Vice President of Savannah Food Company, Inc., and has spent his 35-year career in various roles within the food industry, including Sara Lee Corporation's Meats Division. Paul graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and a Minor in General Agriculture. ​​​

James “Jim” has served as the Administrator and CEO of Hardin Medical Center (HMC) since 2021, bringing over 40 years of leadership experience and a strategic vision for rural healthcare. Under his leadership, HMC has embraced a renewed mission, launched bi-monthly Leadership Development Institute sessions with industry experts, and expanded service lines to meet the region’s growing needs. These initiatives have positioned HMC on the path to becoming a regional medical center while reinforcing its commitment to exceptional patient care. Jim holds a Master of Science in Hospital and Health Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Oklahoma State University.
A Certified Professional in Patient Safety, Jim is dedicated to fostering a culture of continuous improvement. His leadership has earned national recognition, including being named the 2018 CEO of the Year and leading hospitals to multiple Modern Healthcare’s 100 Best Places to Work designations. He is also a passionate advocate for rural maternal health, serving on Tennessee’s Perinatal Advisory Committee and strengthening HMC’s partnership with the Tennessee Initiative for Perinatal Quality Care (TIPQC). Under his direction, HMC was selected as one of only six hospitals in Tennessee to implement TeamBirth, an innovative program enhancing maternal care and patient outcomes. Through his commitment to quality, innovation, and growth, Jim continues to elevate HMC as a leader in rural healthcare.

Leigh Ann Hughes
Chief Financial Officer

Leigh Ann Hughes is the Chief Financial Officer at Hardin Medical Center. Hughes began her career at HMC as the controller and supervisor of the accounting department. She graduated with honors in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee at Martin (UTM), then magna cum laude with her Master of Accountancy in 2005 also from UTM. Hughes also holds an Associate of Science in Accounting from Jackson State Community College and earned her certified public accountant (CPA) license in 2008.

Jerry Clarke, RRT
Essential Services Officer

Jerry Clarke serves as the Essential Services Officer at Hardin Medical Center (HMC), bringing over 37 years of healthcare experience, including 29 years dedicated to HMC. Before joining the hospital, he spent seven years as a home healthcare marketer at Deaconess Health. A registered respiratory therapist, Jerry previously led HMC’s Respiratory Therapy department, where he played a vital role in advancing patient care.
In his current role, Jerry oversees multiple critical departments, including Cardiac Rehab, the Laboratory, Diagnostic Imaging, Physician Services, Physical Rehabilitation, Respiratory, Sleep Lab, and Wound Care. His extensive expertise, leadership, and unwavering commitment to healthcare excellence make him an invaluable asset to HMC.

Tim Klein, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Timothy R. Klein, M.D., serves as Chief of Staff at Hardin Medical Center bringing decades of medical expertise and leadership. A 1984 graduate of the University of Alabama School of Medicine, he completed his internship and residency at Methodist Hospitals of Memphis. Throughout his tenure at HMC, Dr. Klein has held key leadership positions, including Director of Medical Affairs at HMC Health and Rehabilitation Center and Chief Medical Officer at HMC. In addition to his administrative roles, he is a highly respected hospitalist and the medical director of HMC Wound Care Services.
With extensive experience in primary care, acute care, wound care, and extended care, Dr. Klein is a recognized leader in his field. He is an active member of prestigious organizations such as the American Society of Internal Medicine, the American Medical Directors Association, the American Medical Association, the Society of Hospital Medicine, and the American Geriatric Association. He also shares his knowledge as an adjunct professor at Bethel University in McKenzie, TN.

Donald A. Hislop RN, BSN, MA, CPPS

Donald Hisplop is an accomplished healthcare leader with over 32 years of experience. Donald holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Management and Healthcare Administration from Ashford University in Chandler, AZ. He has collaborated with facility teams to become a National Quality Program Affiliate successfully and worked to help achieve the distinction of a Leapfrog A facility. Donald is experienced in critical care, medical surgery, emergency services, mother babies, pharmacy, laboratory, clinical informatics, infection control, education, and surgical services.​​

Chuck Reece, RN
Chief Quality Officer

Charles "Chuck" Reece, Jr. is the Chief Quality Officer at HMC. Chuck brings over seven years of executive quality leadership in healthcare systems. He has over three decades of leadership and executive management in Quality, Performance Improvement, Safety, High Reliability, Patient Experience, Lean Healthcare, Regulatory/Accreditation, Credentialing/Medical Staff Affairs, Infection Control/Prevention, Case Management, and Risk Management. Chuck has been a registered nurse since 1987, with clinical experience in general pediatrics and pediatric oncology before moving into healthcare quality.

Chris Powers
Chief Support Officer

Chris Powers is the HMC Chief Support Officer. Chris joined Hardin Medical Center in 2010 and was previously our Process Improvement Director and Materials Management Director. Chris is originally from West Tennessee and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a bachelor's degree. He received a Leadership and Operations Management certification from Michigan State University in Detroit, MI. Chris uses his 30+ years of leadership experience to continuously improve processes, manage major projects, and oversee support departments.
